Abstract

In order to qualify the HE-FUS3 capability to perform tests for the HCPB Test Blanket Module (TBM)both in normal and off-normal conditions, a pre-test activity was conducted by ENEA using ATHENA/MOD1, an extension of the T/H best estimate code RELAP5/MOD3, available for non-aqueous fluids. As a first step the characterisation tests of the facility were used to develop an input model for ATHENA. The first tests conducted in the facility have supplied experimental data for assessing the special models adopted to simulate some prototypical components both in steady state and transient conditions. This rapport presents the results of the post-test calculations performed. In spite of the numerical weaknesses detected during the analysis, which have required special caution in the definition of the boundary conditions, the stabilised steady state has been achieved in good agreement with the experimental data, and two accident transients of LOFA have Ben qualitatively well reproduced.
