The ENEA-Bologna Nuclear Data Group produced the MATJEF22.BOLIB multigroup coupled (199 n + 42 gamma) cross section library in MATXS format, based on the JEF-2.2 European nuclear data file. MATJEF22.BOLIB was produced, using the MATXSR module of the NJOY-94.66 data processing system, from the same GENDF cross section data files used to produce the ENEA-Bologna VITJEF22.BOLIB multigroup library in AMPX format for nuclear fission applications. These ENEA-Bologna libraries can be considered as European counterparts of the VITAMIN-B6 American library, based on the ENDF/B-VI Release 3 nuclear data file. MATJEF22.BOLIB is a pseudo-problem-independent library based on the Bondarenko (f-factor) method for the treatment of neutron resonance self-shielding and temperature effects. The library contains 133 nuclides processed at 4 temperatures (300 °K, 600 °K, 1000 °K and 2100 °K), obtained for the most part with 6 to 8 values for the background cross section. Thermal scattering cross sections were processed at all temperatures available in the JEF-2.2 thermal scattering law data file for 5 additional bound nuclides (H-l in light water, H-l in polyethylene, H-2 in heavy water, C in graphite and Be in beryllium metal). Collapsed working libraries of self-shielded cross sections in the formats used by the deterministic codes of the DANTSYS or DOORS systems can be generated from MATJEF22.BOLIB, through further data processing with the TRANSX code.
