The purpose of this document is to examine the ADS specific phenomena and identify the main safety issues relevant far the LBE-cooled XADS design. The examination of the phenomenologies and identification of safety issues relies on knowledge and the experience accumulated during studies of previous reactor system, i.e. LWRs and LMFBRs, etc, and phenomena that may be particular for the LBE-cooled XADS. At first, main safety issues during normal operation and accident conditions within DBC are addressed for their relevance in reactor safety analysis. Moreover, main safety issues in DEC are addressed for their relevance in accident management strategy to prevent and mitigate the accident consequences. A comprehensive list of accidental transients to be analysed in WP2.3 is provided. Additional research needs are identified to investigate and understand specific phenomena related to LBE-cooled XADS.
