Abstract

The results of post-test analyses of the QUENCH-01 test performed in the QUENCH Test Facility at the FZK Karlsruhe on February 26, 1988 are presented in this paper. The work has been performed within the COBE project of the 4th Framework European Program on Reactor Safety. The ICARE2 V2 Mod2.2 and SCDAP/RELAP5/Mod3.1 release E have been used in the analysis. Since the ICARE2 code has no models for the quenching phase of the test, the ICARE2 calculation has been stopped just before the onset of the quenching phase at 9660 s. The local shattering model available in the code for the quenching phase has been applied in the SCDAP/RELAP5 calculations. In general, codes are able to predict reasonably well the generation of hydrogen when the bundle temperature behaviour is correctly evaluated.
