The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology has been applied to a first category landfill for the MSW and ASW. The HELP 3.07 and the LandGEM models have been used to estimate respectively the leachate (144 l/t) and the biogas (201 m3/t) quantities were produced during the first 30 years of the landfill lifetime by 1 metric ton of waste. Then we have determined the inventory related to a life cycle which begins with the waste collection and ends with the input into the surface water of the leachate treated. LCA is performed by the SimaPro 3.1 code. From the results obtained by using the Eco-indicator method of evaluation we can observe that the damage due to the transport is 30 % of the total environmental damage, the contribution of the biogas to the damage categories greenhouse and summer smog is 46% of the total damage, the contribution of the leachate to the damage categories heavy metals and eutrophication is 14% of the total damage .
