A set-up for the irradiation of biological samples in the frequency range from 18 to 40 GHz has been developed and characterized in terms of electric field patterns and SAR values at the plane of the culture medium and beyond. Simulations and measurements of the radiated electric field have been performed at the frequency of 25.28 GHz to evaluate the homogeneity of irradiation. This paper compares predicted and measured data. Adjustments of the exposure geometry to improve the field pattern are also discussed. © 2016 IEEE.

Abstract

A set-up for the irradiation of biological samples in the frequency range from 18 to 40 GHz has been developed and characterized in terms of electric field patterns and SAR values at the plane of the culture medium and beyond. Simulations and measurements of the radiated electric field have been performed at the frequency of 25.28 GHz to evaluate the homogeneity of irradiation. This paper compares predicted and measured data. Adjustments of the exposure geometry to improve the field pattern are also discussed. © 2016 IEEE.
