The aim of the Fission Product Release and Speciation project is to provide a database on the chemical identities and kinetics of release of fission products evolved from highly irradiated fuel under a variety of severe reactor accident conditions. The programme involves experiments in which fuel and fission products are heated under a variety of thermal-hydraulic conditions that are representative of severe reactor accidents. The fission product species released during the experiments are determined using mass spectrometry. The results of the experiments have been used to test, develop and validate state-of-the-art release codes. The test matrix has evolved during the course of the project in order to meet the requirements of the various fission product release models.

Abstract
The aim of the Fission Product Release and Speciation project is to provide a database on the chemical identities and kinetics of release of fission products evolved from highly irradiated fuel under a variety of severe reactor accident conditions. The programme involves experiments in which fuel and fission products are heated under a variety of thermal-hydraulic conditions that are representative of severe reactor accidents. The fission product species released during the experiments are determined using mass spectrometry. The results of the experiments have been used to test, develop and validate state-of-the-art release codes. The test matrix has evolved during the course of the project in order to meet the requirements of the various fission product release models.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
