Available devices and related applications - Preliminary Study of Anti-seismic Devices of the EPR Seismic Isolation System

This document reports the activities performed in the framework of the Task 1 of the Contract n. 8400017131 (Servizio di studio preliminare dei dispositivi antisismici del sistema di isolamento deIl'EPR) between ENEA and ENEL, consisting in: - an updated overview of the state-of-the-art of applications of seismic isolation in the world with particular regard to nuclear power plants; - a description of the most diffused seismic isolator typologies with particular regard to the most suitable ones for applications in nuclear power plants; - considerations about the most criticai and safety-related interface components to be introduced in a nuclear power plants with the adoption of seismic isolation; - an overview of the available worldwide standards concerning seismic isolation and proposals for their extension to isolated nuclear power plants; -description of procedures for in-service inspection, maintenance and replacement of isolators in nuclear power plants.
