The fabrication of UCx disks that shall be used as a target material for production of exotic species in the framework of the SPES project is currently underway. This paper would provide some preliminary information about a possible experimental characterization of the mechanical properties of such a material. It is by no means an original contribution but a simple reminder of existing facts and techniques, nor it pretends to be exhaustive or definitive. It's just to kick off the subject.
