This note proposes a strategic internal R&D programme meant at the development of a proprietary suitcase of analytical tools in support to the design of fast reactors’ cores, thereby complementing the capabilities presently available in ENEA. Disposing of such suitcase is identified indeed as a key asset in order not only to cover all aspects encompassed in the core design, but also, and probably mainly, to permit ENEA continuing to play a leading role throughout design stages beyond the conceptual one.
