The beam-down concept is an alternative to the implementation of a central receiver system. This arrangement offers high benefits related to receiver area reduction and the advantages of being the storage system near to the receiver. However, in the practical implementation different optical losses are increased due to the boundary conditions of the systems or components available. As a result of the analysis performed to implement a beam-down concept at the CESA-1 solar field, the limitations and handicaps to overcome in order to achieve high efficiencies of the system are identified and presented.

Abstract
The beam-down concept is an alternative to the implementation of a central receiver system. This arrangement offers high benefits related to receiver area reduction and the advantages of being the storage system near to the receiver. However, in the practical implementation different optical losses are increased due to the boundary conditions of the systems or components available. As a result of the analysis performed to implement a beam-down concept at the CESA-1 solar field, the limitations and handicaps to overcome in order to achieve high efficiencies of the system are identified and presented.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
