The innovative Inert Matrix & Thoria fuels hold a high potential in the search for the optimal plutonium disposition solution. They offer the opportunity to be either suitable for current commercial LWR in a mid-term perspective, or to be better exploited in the accelerator driven systems (ADS) in the longer term. However, results from fuel fabrication were rather low values for the density, particularly evident in the case of T fuel. Good behavior under high burn-up and moderate linear power conditions were sought as the basic requirement for the fuel to fulfil.

Abstract
The innovative Inert Matrix & Thoria fuels hold a high potential in the search for the optimal plutonium disposition solution. They offer the opportunity to be either suitable for current commercial LWR in a mid-term perspective, or to be better exploited in the accelerator driven systems (ADS) in the longer term. However, results from fuel fabrication were rather low values for the density, particularly evident in the case of T fuel. Good behavior under high burn-up and moderate linear power conditions were sought as the basic requirement for the fuel to fulfil.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
