This document presents the process and outcomes of the activity pertaining to Task 3.1 of the Project Agreement between ENEA and Transmutex, on “Core design and simulation”. The purpose of the Task is the identification of experimental cases, selected among those available in literature and international databases, that could be relevant in support to the validation of the GEANT-4-based Monte Carlo code developed by Transmutex for use in the execution of neutronic analyses as requested for the design of the core of the START system. The relevant cases identified are here presented, and a subset of them proposed, suitable for the activities planned in the scope of the subsequent Task 3.2 of the same Project Agreement.
