This report constitutes the ENEA contribution to WP 2.1.1 of IVCRS project. The report summarises the State of the Art of current knowledge on the corium pool thermal-hydraulics, that is of interest for the In-Vessel Retention Strategy. The main experimental works conducted in the worid to investigate the natural circulation and heat transfer phenomena in volumetrically heated pools are described. Most of the experiments used simulants as corium in different geometries and boundary conditions. The heat flux distribution at the pool boundaries was characterised taking into account the effects of some specific phenomena such as the formation of crusts, the corium stratification and oxidic and metallic phase separation, the wall structure and materials.

Abstract
This report constitutes the ENEA contribution to WP 2.1.1 of IVCRS project. The report summarises the State of the Art of current knowledge on the corium pool thermal-hydraulics, that is of interest for the In-Vessel Retention Strategy. The main experimental works conducted in the worid to investigate the natural circulation and heat transfer phenomena in volumetrically heated pools are described. Most of the experiments used simulants as corium in different geometries and boundary conditions. The heat flux distribution at the pool boundaries was characterised taking into account the effects of some specific phenomena such as the formation of crusts, the corium stratification and oxidic and metallic phase separation, the wall structure and materials.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
