Abstract

The proposal for a wireless sensor network is recommended for continuous monitoring of particulate matter. A prototype of the Automatic air quality Measurement System (AMS), which includes a low-cost standard PM sensor, was developed as a remote node for adoption in the WSN. The results of the system calibration and the comparison with the data quality requirements of the PM measurement according to European regulations, as well as the simulation of a Smart City scenario suggests the minimum number of low-cost sensors to be used to have a system of measure deemed equivalent according to the EU regulation.
