Copper Trimesate Metal-organic framework (MOF), known as CuBTC has attracted a great deal of interest due to its high surface area and moisture stability. In this research, the synthesis of CuBTC MOFs has been carried out successfully using mechanochemical method. The purification method to preserve the high surface area of CuBTC after the synthesis was systematically investigated. It was found that the best method was by drying the samples soon after the synthesis and kept under argon atmosphere. Meanwhile, the purification is more favorable to be conducted just in time before the use of the samples for further applications. The highest BET surface area of CuBTC synthesized using this method was 2011 m2/g. This is the highest reported value for CuBTC synthesized with mechanochemical technique to our knowledge.
