Abstract

This report is being issued within the COLOSS Project of 5th Framework EC Programme Key Action on Nuclear Fission. In the frame of COLOSS project, fuel rod dissolution tests has been carried out by AEKI/Budapest in order to investigate the simultaneous dissolution of UO2 and ZrO2 by molten zircaloy in prototypic PWR fuel rod geometry for code model development purpose.Pre-test ana1ysis of AEKI tests has been performed by ENEA using ICARE/CATHARE and SCDAP/RELAP5 codes in order to support the test conduct and better define the test matrix. Parametric analysis using different oxidation and dissolution models has been carried out to investigate the influence of different code modelling on degradation phenomena ana1ysis.Post-test ana1ysis has been performed by ENEA using the same codes to verify the capability of these codes to model fuel rod dissolution and try to identify the best code modelling.
