This document deals with the thermal-hydraulic response of the LBE-cooled XADS to a selected number of protected and unprotected transients. The analyses were performed using both the RELAP5 mod. 3.2.2 code that the coupled system code RELAP5-PARCS. The results of ca1culation show that the XADS response to these very challenging accidents is quite slow due to the very large thermal inertia and specific design characteristics, i.e. RVACS, in-vessel natural circulation., which lead to a less stringent requirements on the accelerator beam shut-off. Abstract
