The analysis of global scenarios and reglonal trends of nuclear energy development In the 21st century pertormed In the framework of INPRO Task 3 has the foliowing purposes: Generalized analysis of nuciear energy systems' development and its impact on sustainable energy suppiy, with account of present-day trends of development of various geographical regions; Development of as general vision as possibie of innovative nuciear energy systems (INES) assuring sufficient nuciear energy growth rates meeting the requirements of sustainability; Proposing deveioprnent directions needing further anaiysis in view of subsequent possibie deployment of INES, as well as measures to be taken today in order to promote the global growth of nuclear energy tomorrow and to pave the way for achieving the targets set in the area of future energy sustainability assurance. In this connection, the report is supposed to provide preliminary integral assessments of possible giobai nuclear energy development options for the severai decades ahead, as weli as to identify the key trends and issues emerging directiy in the fieid of nuciear energy, with account of specific regional factors., though, it rnust be clear, the study Is not intended as a forecast of regionai nuclear power deveioprnent. Such a forecast could be provided exclusively in the framework of system analysis of all energy technologies, the latest assessments of the current economic situation in the regions, and analysis of their resources and development potentials. Analysis while should not be perceived as projection, rather indicate the existence of important correlation between development scales and structural contents of nuclear energy, and allows to assess the potential scope of nuclear energy and identify the trends of its regional development as component of the global nuclear energy growth.
