The life cycle assessment (LCA) study of a domestic cooker hood has been carried out in the framework of the G.EN.ESI project, Work Package 4, Task 3 - Experimental estimation of environmental impacts using complete LCA method. The goal was to analyse the environmental profile of the product and to have a reference study for the validation of the results of two simplified tools of the G.EN.ESI platform. The LCA study has allowed the quantitative assessement of the environmental relevance of the use phase in the cooker hood life cycle, but has also pointed out the need for an environmental assessment that goes beyond the use of single indicators, such as carbon footprint, and considers a more complete set of indicators. Moreover the need stood out for a more detailed analysis of the inventories of some processes to identify the datasets most suitable for calculating the avoided impacts of the different materials and to interpret the toxicity impact categories.
