A free electron laser oscillator-amplifier device, in which the modulating section was provided an optical-klystron oscillator, was discussed. It was observed that the output power in the amplifier and the relevant stability were functions of the oscillator intracavity power. It was found that optimum conditions for the output power in the amplifier were obtained for moderate intracavity power. Analysis shows that the configuration ensured a stable output power of the amplifier section.
