Preface, Overview and Summary of the International Post-SMiRT Conference Seminar on Seismic Isolation, Passive Energy Dissipation and Active Control of Vibrations of Structures

The International Post-SMiRT Conference Seminar on Seismic Isolation, Passive Energy Dissipation and Active Control of Vibrations of Structures was held at the Seogwipo KAL hotel, Cheju, Korea on August 23 to 25, 1999. It was organized in the framework of the technical events following the 15th International Conference of Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT-15), which was held at Seoul, Korea, on August 15 to 20, 1999. The Seminar was organized jointly with the final Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was held in the framework of the activities of the Coordinated Research Program on Intercomparison of Seismic Analysis Methods for Seismically Isolated Nuclear Structures. The RCM session was extended to August 27, 1999, for more detailed presentations, discussion, and preparation of the RCM Summary Report.
