The globalization of the markets and the simplicity with which products are moved from one side of the country to the other, together with the growing attention to the problem of health and physical well-being, have led to greater attention and awareness of the consumers on the themes of the Food which translate in a greater demand for food security sought in the knowledge of the origin and the treatments suffered by food. The advent of modern technologies, internet and mobile devices, provides all the useful tools to obtain real-time information on the traceability of a food production and distribution chain, allowing the consumer to incorporate all the information related to the raw materials used and treatments suffered during the path that leads to the marketing of the final product. A large part of the agri-food sector is now adapting itself to guarantee a traceability of the supply chain aimed at guaranteeing the quality and transparency of the final product. GIS technology meets this need by providing tools for geographical location and consultation of all the information that characterize the various sites that are part of the entire production and distribution chain.
